Food & Nutrition Australia Good food & nutrition advice for a healthy life

Women’s health

You have been a god send! No-one has ever been able to work out what was wrong with me. I now have no symptoms and I have also lost 2 kilograms in 2 weeks, which I have been trying to lose for over a year.” Concetta.

A woman’s health needs change throughout life depending on her individual needs and life stages. Our team of Accredited Practising Dietitians (APDs) at Food & Nutrition Australia provides expert dietary advice for a range of health issues including:

Pregnancy

Meeting the increased nutritional requirements of pregnancy and managing weight gain during this special time of life are key goals for pregnant women. Our APDs will undertake a detailed assessment of your current diet and any changes to your appetite and food preferences you’ve experienced since becoming pregnant.

We will then develop a personalised meal plan that meets your increased nutritional requirements while managing your total kilojoule intake along the way. We will also monitor your progress, including your weight and dietary intake up until the birth of your baby.

Menopause

This can be an important time for assessing your diet to ensure you are obtaining an adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D to encourage bone strength, which will help to reduce the risk of osteoporosis. It is also a time where weight changes can occur so planning your diet and having the support of one of our Accredited Practising Dietitians can make a big difference to achieving and maintaining good health at this stage of life.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

This condition is of unknown cause, and is associated with irregular menstrual cycles, excessive hair growth, acne, obesity, infertility and the possible development of diabetes and osteoporosis later in life. Our APDs can assist with dietary advice and other lifestyle adjustments to ensure you manage your PCOS effectively and achieve your health goals – whether they are weight management or to become pregnant.

Whatever your needs and lifestage, a check-up or professional overview of your diet can make a significant difference to your health and wellbeing. Our APDs are here to guide and assist you with expert advice.
